Surab, Feb 26: A powerful explosion struck a police armored vehicle on the Quetta-Karachi National Highway, claiming the life of police driver Khalil Ahmed, who was martyred at the scene.
According to police officials, the attack took place on a bridge near Naghur where an explosive device had been planted. The detonation completely destroyed the bridge and inflicted extensive damage on the armored vehicle.
In the immediate aftermath, authorities suspended traffic along the national highway and dispatched heavy contingents of security personnel to secure the area. The site was cordoned off as investigators began gathering evidence. The body of the martyred officer was shifted to DHQ Hospital Surab.
Law enforcement agencies have launched a formal investigation and initiated efforts to trace and apprehend those responsible for carrying out the attack.
