Lahore, March 4, 2026: Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, chaired a provincial Apex Committee meeting to review the overall security situation across the province. The session included a briefing on preemptive security measures, inter-agency coordination, and ongoing counterterrorism operations.
The meeting recognized the success of Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, honoring the Pakistan Army and paying tribute to martyrs, including Colonel Gul Faraz, with Fatiha recitations. Progress on the removal of illegally residing Afghan nationals was also discussed, along with coordinated actions to suppress terrorist activities. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the proactive security arrangements ensuring public safety.
CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted Lahore Police’s management of recent protests, emphasizing that officers protected peaceful demonstrators, provided iftar, and maintained law and order effectively. She stressed the activation of anti-drone units across districts, secure movement of Chinese nationals under SOPs, and implementation of AI-based traffic management technology in Lahore.
Regarding development and welfare, the Chief Minister announced PKR 10 billion in projects for education, health, and Safe City initiatives in the Kacha area, deployment of 1,500 security personnel, provision of bulletproof vehicles, and land allocation for landless farmers under the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” program. She also noted that over 10,500 illegal Afghan nationals have been removed as part of combing operations.
Other topics included Ramadan relief measures, including distribution of PKR 10,000 packages to 420,000 families, facilitation through local Ramadan markets, smog-free Punjab initiatives, and strict law enforcement during Basant celebrations. Senior officials, including the Corps Commander Lahore and relevant security authorities, also attended the meeting.
