Gwadar: The Balochistan Education Department continues its efforts to strengthen teachers’ professional skills and improve the quality of education in the province.
District Officer Education (Female) Zaitoon Baloch visited the Government Girls Higher Secondary School Gwadar, where she held a meeting with the teaching staff to discuss educational activities, teaching standards, and students’ academic performance.
She also inspected a five-day refresher training program attended by 24 teachers from various schools across the district. The program focuses on teaching methodologies, assessment systems, and fundamental literacy and numeracy skills, organized in collaboration with UNICEF, Global Partnership for Education, CPD, the Balochistan Education Department, and the Provincial Institute for Teacher Education Balochistan.
Teachers received detailed training in four core areas of mathematics: numbers and operations, algebra, geometry and measurement, and statistics and probability. Practical exercises covered topics such as place value, addition and subtraction, types of angles (acute, right, obtuse), and types of fractions (proper, improper, mixed). Methods for metric conversions were also explained.
Master trainers Samira Khalid and Fahmida Barkat introduced modern teaching strategies for mathematics and physics, using videos, protractors, and group activities to make the sessions interactive.
During the visit, Zaitoon Baloch urged teachers to integrate modern pedagogical techniques into classroom instruction to enhance students’ learning abilities. She highlighted that such training programs are essential for professional development and play a significant role in improving the overall standard of education.
