Quetta, March 16, 2026: Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti reiterated the Balochistan government’s firm resolve to eradicate terrorism and ensure complete restoration of law and order in the province, declaring that adherence to the rule of law will remain uncompromised in all circumstances.
The remarks were made during a high-level meeting on security and law enforcement held on Monday at the Chief Minister Secretariat in Quetta. The session was jointly chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, with senior officials from federal and provincial institutions participating to assess the overall security environment in Balochistan.
The meeting reviewed a range of critical issues, including the repatriation of Afghan refugees, action against extortion and Hawala networks, efforts to curb smuggling and other challenges affecting peace and security in the province.
During the proceedings, detailed briefings were presented by the Chairman of NADRA, Director General FIA, Director General NCCI and Inspector General of the Federal Constabulary. The officials outlined ongoing initiatives aimed at tackling illegal activities, strengthening institutional capabilities and ensuring long-term stability across Balochistan.
A key decision taken in the meeting was the deployment of the Federal Constabulary to assist provincial law enforcement agencies. Under the first phase of the plan, two wings comprising around 3,000 personnel will be stationed at sensitive locations to enhance security arrangements and safeguard public safety.
The meeting also approved steps to make the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) more effective in the province. These measures include filling vacant posts through recruitment of local personnel, a move aimed at creating employment opportunities for youth in Balochistan while strengthening the operational capacity of the agency.
Participants also agreed on the importance of increased monitoring of social media platforms to identify anti-state activities. Authorities decided that strict legal action would be taken against individuals involved in spreading propaganda against the state or attempting to mislead the public.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured the provincial leadership that the federal government would extend full support to maintain peace and eliminate terrorism in Balochistan. He highlighted efforts to enhance the professional capabilities of the Balochistan Police through modern training and improved resources, emphasizing that ensuring security in the province requires coordinated action and national unity.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti noted that combating terrorism is a shared national responsibility, adding that the visible improvement in the province’s situation reflects effective government policies and strong coordination among institutions. He also pointed out that recent protests have not resulted in highway blockades, indicating progress in maintaining public order.
At the end of the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their joint commitment to achieving sustainable peace, strengthening governance and protecting the lives and property of citizens in Balochistan through cooperation, strategic planning and national solidarity.
The meeting was attended by provincial assembly member Mir Zia Langove, Chief Secretary Shakil Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary (Interior) Hamza Shafqat, IGP Muhammad Tahir Khan, Principal Secretary to the CM Imran Zarkoon and other senior officials.
