Independent Report
KABUL / ISLAMABAD, March 17: Claims by the Afghan Taliban that 400 people were killed in a Kabul hospital during Pakistani airstrikes have been debunked by multiple Afghan media outlets and confirmed by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). Reports indicate no evidence of mass casualties or extensive destruction.
According to Afghan media, including TOLO News, the hospital sustained only minor fire damage likely caused by a nearby Taliban military camp being targeted. Eyewitnesses at Kabul Central Hospital reported only 15 patients receiving treatment for minor injuries.
Experts note a clear discrepancy between Taliban statements and ground realities, describing the 400-death narrative as deliberate propaganda. Analysts emphasize that misinformation of this nature undermines credibility and seeks to conceal the Taliban’s battlefield setbacks.
The incident highlights the role of independent media and international observers in verifying claims in conflict zones. Pakistan’s military operations targeted terrorist infrastructure, and no major civilian casualties have been substantiated.
