Lahore, 17 March 2026: Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) facilitated the arrest of a mobile snatching suspect in Barkat Market after a swift response to an Emergency Helpline 15 call.
According to officials, a motorcyclist snatched a mobile phone from a citizen, who immediately reported the incident. The PSCA Virtual Patrolling Officer traced the suspect’s movement using AI-based surveillance cameras and shared real-time location with field police.
Acting promptly on the information, police teams conducted an operation and arrested the suspect within a short time. Authorities said the accused was already wanted in multiple criminal cases across the city, and further investigation is underway.
The PSCA spokesperson stated that modern AI-based technology is enhancing rapid crime detection and improving public safety. Citizens were advised to remain cautious while using mobile phones in public and report suspicious activity via Helpline 15.
