South Air’s First Gwadar Flight Hailed

Quetta, May 30: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has welcomed the successful landing of South Air’s first proving flight at the New Gwadar International Airport, terming it a major milestone toward regional connectivity, economic growth, and development in Balochistan.

In a message posted on X, the Chief Minister said the launch of South Air operations would provide Gwadar with modern and effective air connectivity to major cities across Pakistan, ensuring safer, faster, and quality travel facilities for passengers.

He said the proposed network would connect Gwadar with Turbat, Panjgur, Quetta, Sukkur, Lahore, Islamabad, and various cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, strengthening transport and commercial links.

Bugti noted that Gwadar is emerging as a key centre of Pakistan’s economic growth, maritime trade, and regional connectivity. He said improved air services would boost tourism, trade, investment, and local business activity while creating new employment opportunities and strengthening the local economy.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing Gwadar into an international-standard economic and trade hub.
