Govt. working with Intl. organizations  to ensure balanced population  growth, says Ghazala Gola

QUETTA: A consultative session on the roadmap of the Provincial Parliamentary Forum on Population was held under the auspices of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) here in Quetta on Tuesday.

The session was co-chaired by Deputy Speaker of Balochistan Assembly, Ms. Ghazala Gola and UNFPA Country Head Dr. Luay Shabaneh.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Population Welfare, Hadia Nawaz Behrani stated that the Population Welfare Department of Balochistan is actively working on initiatives related to family planning and reproductive health in the province.

Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola emphasized that the current coalition provincial government is committed to implementing welfare projects for the people and is working with international organizations to ensure a balanced population growth so that resources can be utilized effectively for the betterment of the public.

On this occasion, UNFPA Country Head Dr. Luay Shabaneh highlighted that every individual and couple has the right to make informed and voluntary decisions about their families. It is the responsibility of the state to facilitate these decisions by establishing proper systems and policies. He stressed that achieving a balance between population and resources plays a key role in this regard.

Provincial Minister for Education, Rahila Hameed Durrani, Parliamentary Secretary Asfand Yar Kakar, and Members of the Balochistan Assembly including Farah Azeem Shah, Salma Kakar, Khair Jan Baloch, Kulsoom Niaz Baloch, and Shehnaz Umrani presented various suggestions. They assured that they are engaging with all stakeholders to address this critical issue effectively.

Program Coordinator Saadia Atta and Technical Specialist Dr. Sarmad also gave a detailed briefing on the organization’s performance in the province.
