Quetta, Sep. 24 – Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti met Afghanistan’s Acting Consul General Maulvi Muhammad Habib Nasir in Quetta on Tuesday and discussed the ongoing process of Afghan refugees’ repatriation from the province.
The Chief Minister said the provincial government is strictly implementing the national policy on the repatriation of foreigners. He assured that Afghan refugees returning to their homeland are being extended complete assistance by the Government of Balochistan.
Bugti emphasized that special care is being taken for the elderly, women, and children, directing administrative officers to ensure that no hardship is caused to vulnerable groups. “Our traditions are rooted in humanity and respect. Afghan women are considered our mothers and sisters,” he remarked.
To address local administrative matters and ensure smooth coordination, the provincial government has appointed a senior officer as the focal person.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the repatriation process will be gradual, dignified, and conducted in line with humanitarian values. He stressed that the dignified return of Afghan refugees is in the best interest of both Pakistan and Afghanistan.
