Karachi (12-12-2025): Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety (PASS), Syed Imran Ali Shah, visited the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Sindh Regional Headquarters in Karachi today, where he was briefed on the region’s performance and ongoing initiatives.
The Minister was received by Mr. Adnan ul Hassan, Director General BISP Sindh Region, along with officers of the Central Zone. The regional team presented a detailed overview of current progress, program implementations, and statistical analyses of beneficiary support systems across Sindh.
During the briefing, the Federal Minister urged the DG Sindh to explore the possibility of launching a pilot initiative to further enhance service delivery and beneficiary facilitation. He appreciated the hard work of the regional team despite limited resources, acknowledging their efforts in reducing financial hardships for vulnerable communities.
“Poverty alleviation demands financial assistance alongside skill-based learning. This can only be achieved by equipping women—who have talent but lack resources—with skills and support,” the Minister stated.
DG Sindh also apprised the Minister of the various ongoing initiatives under BISP. The Federal Minister emphasized the importance of community-level counseling for students, encouraging parents to send their children to school for a brighter future.
He also stressed the need for establishing a state-of-the-art One Window Center at the provincial level, enabling beneficiaries to receive all services under one roof for faster, more efficient support.
While speaking to the media, Syed Imran Ali Shah said:
“Today, I visited the BISP Central Zonal Office Karachi. The work being done at the provincial level is satisfactory and aligned with our national goals.”
He further highlighted the vision of Prime Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, who has emphasized the creation of a unified digital wallet system for all BISP beneficiaries. This system will allow women to receive financial assistance securely and conveniently without the need to wait in long queues.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s vision includes opening digital accounts for over 10 million families, with 25% coverage already achieved through the distribution of Digital Wallet SIMs. The Minister reiterated that these SIMs are free of cost and will only be issued through BISP offices—not through shops or retailers.
The Federal Minister also underscored the government’s commitment to skill development, stating: “We want a taraqqi pazeer (developing) Pakistan, not just a taraqqi yafta (developed) slogan. After receiving skill training, our youth will raise Pakistan’s name with pride.”
The visit concluded with assurances of continued efforts to strengthen BISP’s outreach and improve support mechanisms for beneficiaries across Sindh.
