Lahore, Feb 1:
Work on the Bhati Gate development project has been halted following the arrest of the owners of SMS Design and Engineering System over criminal negligence, officials said on Saturday.
Company owners Usman Yasin and Salman Yasin, along with safety officer Muhammad Hanzala, have been taken into custody, while a four-day physical remand of the accused has been approved.
Following Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s notice, the project site has been declared a secure zone and covered under modern safety protocols. The chief minister said negligence leading to loss of lives would not be tolerated and vowed strict accountability of both contractors and negligent officials.
