The UNESCO Director-General, Mr. Khaled El-Enany, paid an official visit to Islamabad Model School (I-VIII) F-6/3
Mr. Khaled El-Enany was formally received at the school by Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khaild Maqbool Siddiqui, Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Mr. Nadeem Mahbub, DG FDE, Syed Junaid Akhlaq along with the Principal, Ms. Naureen Sarwar, and faculty members of the school, as well as representatives of the Federal Directorate of Education. A warm welcome was extended through a band performance by students, followed by a bouquet presentation by students dressed in regional attire, reflecting Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage.
During the visit, the UNESCO Director-General toured key academic and skill-based facilities of the institution, including the smart classrooms, Robotics Lab, Mind Game Room, and Maths Lab. Students demonstrated innovative projects and shared their learning experiences, which were appreciated by the visiting delegation.
Mr. Khaled El-Enany also visited classrooms and interacted with students and teachers, observing teaching methodologies and classroom practices. A detailed presentation highlighting the Government of Pakistan’s initiatives in the education sector was delivered by the Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. The presentation focused on ongoing reforms, digital transformation, skill development, and efforts to improve access to quality education. The Secretary also briefed the participants on the out-of-school children (OOSC) crisis and the government’s measures to address it, including policy reforms, increased funding, and innovative digital interventions to improve access to education.
An interactive podcast session was conducted with students, providing them an opportunity to engage directly with the UNESCO Director-General.
Mr. Khaled El-Enany appreciated the Government of Pakistan’s efforts to promote inclusive, innovative, and quality education in alignment with UNESCO’s global education goals. Officials from the Ministry and the Federal Directorate of Education reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in the education sector.
The visit concluded with a group photograph, marking a memorable and inspiring occasion for students, faculty, and guests.
