Lahore, Feb 5, 2026: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that Punjab has achieved a record potato production of 12 million metric tonnes this season, a 25% increase compared to last year. She described this as a historic milestone reflecting improved agricultural performance.
The chief minister said the Punjab government is working to access new international markets to promote potato exports, ensure price stability, and provide fair compensation to farmers. Significant progress has been made with exports to Kazakhstan. Provincial Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani will hold key meetings in Islamabad next week to further advance export efforts.
