Acting on credible intelligence, the Anti Narcotics Force intercepted a suspected export consignment at the Cargo Shed, AIlama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore. The shipment, comprising 32 cartons was destined for Nigeria. After a thorough examination of the consignment, 1,470,000 Tramadol tablets (808.5 kg) and 57,600 Valium (Diazepam) 10 mg tablets (17.280 kg) were recovered, which were tactfully concealed in the cartons . The total weight of the seized tablets is 825.78 Kgs. The recovered tablets have been taken into custody, for further legal proceedings. Investigations are underway to apprehend the culprits involved.
This large seizure highlights an emerging and alarming trend in narcotics trafficking as Tramadol and Valium (Diazepam) are being diverted by drug trafficking networks for onward smuggling through export channels to use those in the production of illicit drugs. Such illicit activities not only endanger public health but also pose a serious risk to Pakistan’s international reputation and regulatory credibility.
In its mission of making Pakistan Drug Free, ANF remains vigilant and resolute, conducting intelligence-led operations to disrupt evolving drug trafficking methods and denying drug-traffickers any opportunity to misuse trade/ export channels.
