Quetta, 08 March: Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has demanded the prompt restoration of medical seats for students from Balochistan and the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), stressing that allocation should expand rather than shrink to reflect the region’s growing population.
Governor Mandokhail pointed out that the seats originally designated for these students, totaling 333, have been drastically reduced to only 121, severely limiting access to medical education. He called on the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to immediately reinstate all 333 seats to ensure fair opportunities for aspiring doctors from these regions.
“Students from Balochistan and former FATA are equally talented, yet insufficient facilities and opportunities continue to hinder their progress,” Governor Mandokhail remarked. He added that restoring these seats would enable capable students to pursue quality medical education, ultimately strengthening healthcare services and contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.
