KP Food Authority Seizes 8,000kg Spoiled Meat, 5,000kg Offal, and Counterfeit Beverages

Peshawar: Under the directives of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority intensified operations against substandard and adulterated food items during Ramazan.
In Mardan, the authority raided a minced meat production unit, seizing approximately 8,000 kilograms of spoiled minced meat and meatballs. During a checkpoint operation at Wali Interchange, 5,000 kilograms of offal, including heart and liver, were also confiscated.
In a separate raid on a manufacturing unit, officials recovered 70 cartons of expired instant drink powder, 30 cartons of mislabeled products, around 100 kilograms of cumin husk, and various food colors and supplements suspected of being used for adulteration. All items were confiscated, and FIRs were registered against the owners.
In Mansehra, 45 kilograms of spoiled yogurt and 60 kilograms of substandard meat were seized and destroyed on the spot. In Aman Kot, Nowshera, 1,200 liters of carbonated drinks were confiscated, the factory sealed, and the owner heavily fined. A bakery unit was also penalized for poor hygiene.
Director General KP Food Authority, Kashif Iqbal Jilani, stated that operations would continue during Ramazan, and strict legal action would be taken against anyone endangering public health.
