DG Agriculture Reviews Research Projects at Wayaro Centre, Lauds Progress in High-Value Crop Cultivation

Director General Agriculture Research Balochistan Juma Khan Tareen on Friday visited the Agricultural Research Centre, Wayaro, to review ongoing research initiatives and reaffirm the provincial government’s commitment to advancing agricultural research and promoting modern farming practices across Balochistan.
During the visit, the DG inspected the newly constructed building and various sections of the research facility. He was accompanied by Deputy Director Agricultural Research Farm Wayaro Abdul Ghafoor Ronja, Deputy Director Syed Rehan Fareed, Director Agriculture Pervez Ahmed, Director PRC Sindh and other senior officials.
The officials briefed him on a range of research projects being carried out at the centre, highlighting the successful cultivation of dragon fruit, custard apple, moringa, perennial grass, a new mango variety introduced from Florida, United States, and olive plantations grown alongside wheat and konarj.
Expressing satisfaction over the progress achieved at the research centre, Tareen commended the dedication of the officers and staff, saying their efforts reflected the growing potential of agricultural research in the province.
He said the Government of Balochistan and the Agriculture Department were actively promoting modern research and innovative farming technologies to improve agricultural productivity and diversify crop cultivation. He added that the introduction of high-value crops and advanced agricultural practices would contribute to strengthening the agriculture sector, enhancing farmers’ incomes and supporting sustainable rural development.
The DG reaffirmed that the department would continue expanding agricultural research programmes across the province to encourage innovation and improve the long-term growth of Balochistan’s farming sector.
