KHUZDAR:
At least four people, including two women, lost their lives while nine others, among them women and children, sustained injuries in a head-on collision between two passenger vehicles on the Quetta-Karachi National Highway near Badrang in the Wadh area of Khuzdar district on Friday.
According to police, the accident occurred when the two vehicles collided head-on. Preliminary findings indicate that over-speeding and alleged driver negligence may have contributed to the fatal crash.
Rescue personnel, with the assistance of local residents, reached the scene soon after the incident and shifted the injured to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Wadh, where they received emergency medical treatment.
Officials said several of the injured were in critical condition and were later referred to Khuzdar Teaching Hospital for advanced medical care.
Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the accident. Authorities said initial assessments point to excessive speed and possible negligence on the part of the driver as the likely causes of the collision.
