Independent Report
HARIPUR/ABBOTTABAD, July 18: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, visited BISP offices in Haripur and Abbottabad to review service delivery and brief women beneficiaries on the government’s newly introduced Digital Wallet System aimed at enhancing transparency and ease of access to financial assistance.
During the visits, the BISP chairperson met beneficiaries, listened to their concerns, and directed officials to resolve their issues on a priority basis. Member of the Provincial Assembly Meher Sultana Advocate and other women representatives accompanied her.

Senator Rubina Khalid explained that under the Digital Wallet System, financial assistance will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ digital accounts. Beneficiaries will receive SMS notifications when funds are credited and after every withdrawal, ensuring greater transparency in the payment process. She also briefed beneficiaries on the free Benazir SIM, wallet activation procedures, and the revised payment mechanism.
She advised beneficiaries to obtain the free Benazir SIM only from BISP offices by presenting their original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and personal mobile phone. She further urged women not to hand over their mobile phones to agents or retailers while collecting payments in order to protect their personal information and financial security.
The BISP chairperson said the newly introduced interoperability system would enable beneficiaries to withdraw their financial assistance from any authorized retailer of partner banks across Pakistan, regardless of their location.
During her visit to Abbottabad, Senator Rubina Khalid also advised beneficiaries to safeguard their SIM cards, reject any unauthorized deductions from their payments, and immediately report such incidents through BISP offices or the programme’s complaint management system for prompt action.
Concluding the visit, she directed BISP officials and staff to ensure efficient service delivery, provide comprehensive guidance to beneficiaries, and facilitate smooth and secure access to financial assistance under the programme.
