CM launches seven-day anti-polio campaign; assures every possible steps for it’s success

QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti formally launched the anti-polio campaign in the province on Monday.
The Chief Minister administered the anti-polio vaccine to the children at the CM’s Secretariat marking inauguration of the vital campaign against the crippling disease.
Also present on the occasion were the Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Khan Achakzai, Provincial Minister for Health, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Provincial Minister for Education, Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Member Provincial Assembly, Mir Liaquat Ali Lehri, spokesman of provincial government, Shahid Rind, Chief Secretary, Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Shahab Ali, Coordinator of Emergency Operation Center, Inamullah Khan, besides other concerned high ups and representatives of the line departments and organizations.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister said that all available resources are being mobilized for eradication of polio from the province.
He assured that the government would provide every possible steps for making the polio immunization campaign successful.
Earlier, the Chief Minister was briefed about the polio immunization campaign in the province.
It was informed that the immunization campaign would remain continued for seven days.
During the campaign, it has been targeted to vaccinate over 2.66 million children against polio virus.
Over 11,000 teams are taking part in the campaign, which is the last of the current year in Balochistan.
It was also informed that the polio virus was re-detected in different districts of the province in 2023.
Afterwards, 27 cases of polio have been reported in the province.
The polio cases have been reported from Quetta, Chaman, Dera Bugti, Killa Abdullah, Jhal Magsi, Zhob, Killa Saifullah, Noshki, Loralai, Pishin, Kharan, Jaffarabad and Chaghai.
It was appealed to the parents to ensure immunization of their children against polio so as to save them from permanent physical disability.
It was also stressed to complete the course of immunization for other diseases.
Besides, the complete security is being provided to the teams taking part in the campaign so as to make it successful.
Meanwhile, the polio immunization campaign was also started at the district level all over the province.
