Successful negotiations between Govt, & GHA: 10-day strike of Grand Health Alliance in public hospitals finally comes to an end
GHA spokesman says arrested doctors released; FIRs withdrawn; Govt assured to meet other demands; GoB spokesman says all matters settled between Govt. & striking doctors, employees
QUETTA: The strike of Grand Health Alliance (GHA) in the public sector hospitals of Balochistan including Quetta continued for last 10 days came to an end on Wednesday.
The strike was ended by the Grand Health Alliance following “successful” negotiations between the provincial government, Health authorities and the Alliance’s leaders including representatives and leaders of the doctors, paramedics and other health employees’ bodies on late Tuesday night.
Following negotiations, the out patient departments (OPDs) and other services were restored in the government hospitals including Sandeman Provincial Headquarter Hospital, Bolan Medical Complex Hospital and others.
According to the spokesman of GHA, Dr. Abdul Saboor Kakar, the strike was ended after successful negotiations with the provincial government.
He informed that the arrested doctors including Dr. Bahar Shah, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Mandokhail and others were released and FIRs registered against them and others were withdrawn.
The spokesman of GHA said that the government has also made assurance to meet other demands of the doctors and other health staff.
Similarly, the spokesman of provincial government, Shahid Rind said that the matters have been settled among the government, striking doctors, paramedics and other health employees amicably.
He said that during the negotiations, there was consensus to end strike and restore the health services in hospitals. He mentioned that the office bearers of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) played role of arbitration in ending strike of the doctors and other employees.
