PPP Govt’s ‘Worst Fascist Face’ Exposed: Sindhyani Tahreek Condemns Police Brutality Against Peaceful Protesters in Kashmore, Malir and other areas
Hyderabad (Press Release) The Central Committee meeting of Sindhyani Tahreek, chaired by Senior Vice President Zarqa Halipoto, was held at D-10 Palijo House, Qasimabad, Hyderabad. The meeting reviewed the ongoing protests across Sindh against corporate farming and new canal projects and made critical decisions to escalate the movement.
The meeting decided that Sindhyani Tahreek’s women members will actively join the lawyers’ sit-in protest at Babarloi Bypass on a daily basis.
A month-long Whistle March will be organized from May 15 to June 15 to mobilize public resistance against corporate farming and canals.
Addressing the meeting Leaders said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government is conspiring to violently suppress Sindh’s peaceful democratic struggle. They condemned police brutality against peaceful protesters in Kashmore, Malir, and other regions, calling it the PPP’s worst fascist face.
– The ST leaders highlighted that since the passage of the I Board of Investment Amendment Act 2023 (termed a “black law), protests, rallies, hunger strikes, and seminars have intensified, turning all of Sindh into a hub of resistance.
Leaders slammed the destruction of the Indus Delta (the world’s fifth-largest delta) due to water diversion, leading to the collapse of mangrove forests and extinction of aquatic species.
– They warned that six new canals would result in the genocide of 70 million Sindhis by exacerbating water scarcity and displacing communities.
They demanded Immediate cancellation of land allotments to Green Corporate Initiative Private Limited and Amendments to the IRSA Act (Indus River System Authority Act), which they claim prioritizes corporate interests over Sindh’s rights.
– Sindhyani Tahreek hailed the Babarloi sit-in and urged all Sindhis—students, farmers, laborers, intellectuals, journalists, and citizens—to strengthen the peaceful democratic struggle and reject propaganda inciting violence.
– The ST vowed to resist corporate exploitation and “anti-people” policies until Sindh’s resources and rights are safeguarded.
