1,600 tons of waste transported to landfill site on 1st day of Eid as cleanliness operation underway
QUETTA: A special cleanliness operation is underway in Quetta city on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
According to the Metropolitan Corporation Quetta (MCQ) officials, the special operation began on the first day of Eid, with more than 1,100 personnel—including drivers, helpers, and waste collection workers from private companies—taking part.
Needless to mention here is that the special cleanliness operation was launch on special directives of the Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
Officials of MCQ stated that 13 special camps were set up across the city for the operation. On the first day of Eid alone, approximately 1,600 tons of waste were transported to the landfill site.
According to the corporation, about 90% of the general waste and animal remains generated in the city have been cleared so far. Additionally, lime has been sprayed at all collection points and in streets to control odor and the spread of germs.
The cleanliness operation will continue until the fourth day of Eid i.e., today (Tuesday).
