Modernizing C&W Dept & equipping it with up-to-date technology among government’s top priorities: Khosa
QUETTA: The Provincial Minister for Communications and Works (C&W), Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa has stated that development and prosperity of the province largely depend on improved infrastructure, and that this, in turn, hinges on its effective performance.
He emphasized that modernizing the department and equipping it with up-to-date technology is among the government’s top priorities.
He expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting with the department’s Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers to review the overall challenges faced by the department and the progress on ongoing development projects across the province.
The meeting was attended by Secretary of Communications and Works, Lal Jan Jafar, all Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, and other senior officials. During the session, each engineer individually briefed the minister on the issues within their respective areas.
Addressing the participants, Minister Khosa highlighted that the Communications and Works Department plays a backbone role in the development and prosperity of Balochistan. Therefore, enhancing the department’s performance is essential. He added that all technical challenges faced by the department are being addressed on a priority basis to eliminate hurdles in the timely completion of development projects.
He further remarked that Balochistan comprises vast and geographically dispersed districts, and the more facilities that are provided to these remote areas, the more local issues can be resolved at residents’ doorsteps.
Concluding his remarks, the Provincial Minister reiterated that the province’s development and progress rely on improving infrastructure and providing the public with modern facilities—whether in the road sector or building sector—and fulfilling this responsibility effectively should be the department’s core mission.
