BA voices concern over shortage of essential food items in border areas following Iran-Israel war
CM says situation has significantly deteriorated; assures House provincial government would not allow petrol shortage to occur in Balochistan
QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly has expressed concern over the shortage of essential food items in the province’s border areas as a result of the Iran-Israel conflict.
The session of provincial assembly resumed after break of two days with Speaker, Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Khan Achakzai in the chair, here on Friday afternoon.
The Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and the leader of Opposition, Mir Younas Aziz Zehri were also in attendance.
Speaking on a point of order, the Member Provincial Assembly belonging to National Party, Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch noted with concern that as a result of the Iran-Israel conflict, a shortage of essential goods has emerged in the border areas.
Rahmat Saleh Baloch stated that due to the closure of the border, petrol and other essential items are no longer available in the bordering areas of the province.
He urged both the federal and provincial governments to take immediate action to address the issue.
Responding to the point of order, the Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti stated that the situation has significantly deteriorated due to the Iran-Israel conflict.
He mentioned that during his recent visit to Gwadar, local residents also raised concerns regarding this issue.
The Chief Minister added that he has already spoken with the Federal Minister for Petroleum in this regard.
He assured the assembly that the provincial government would not allow a petrol shortage to occur in Balochistan. “If we need to declare an emergency or take any necessary measures, we will do so,”
