Effective Measures Underway for Livestock Development and Animal Welfare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Syed Qasim Ali Shah

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Social Welfare, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, has said that the livestock sector forms the backbone of the province’s economy, and the government is implementing comprehensive measures to achieve self-sufficiency and sustainable development in this vital field.
He expressed these views while addressing an awareness conference on animal welfare, organized in connection with World Animal Day by the Department of Livestock in collaboration with Brooke Pakistan and other private partners.
The event focused on the welfare of working animals, particularly horses and mules, and was attended by a large number of experts, veterinary professionals, civil society representatives, and citizens from various walks of life.
The chief guest, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, and the guest of honor, Samiullah Khan, Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell, emphasized the importance of collective efforts for animal welfare and public awareness.
In his keynote address, Syed Qasim Ali Shah highlighted that animal care is both a moral duty and a key component of public health and economic stability. He remarked,
> “Timely vaccination and proper care of animals are essential for their health and productivity. Small, consistent steps can bring about major positive results in this sector.”
He further added that the provincial government, in partnership with the private sector, is promoting innovative initiatives to improve animal health, productivity, and overall welfare, aiming to uplift both rural livelihoods and the province’s economy.
