President Asif Ali Zardari’s Message on National Resilience Day
Presidency, Islamabad – October 8, 2025

President Asif Ali Zardari has paid tribute to the victims of the devastating 2005 earthquake on the occasion of National Resilience Day, calling it a reminder of the nation’s unity, patience, and resolve in the face of adversity.

The President said, “Every year on October 8, we remember the tragic earthquake of 2005 and pay homage to all those who faced the calamity with courage and solidarity.”

He noted that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the earthquake, emphasizing that Pakistan has emerged as a stronger, more united, and more determined nation, moving towards a brighter and more resilient future.

President Zardari stated that true strength lies not in avoiding challenges, but in overcoming them with faith, unity, and innovation.
He urged citizens to “build a nation that no calamity can shake or dishearten.”

Referring to the recent monsoon floods, he highlighted that thousands of people remain displaced, with significant losses recorded in agriculture, infrastructure, services, and employment sectors.

President Zardari appreciated the progress of Pakistan’s Disaster Management Framework, noting that it is now among the best international models, but stressed the need for further preparedness to face recurring natural disasters.

He called for promoting sustainable development and ensuring inclusive participation of all social segments in resilience-building efforts.

“All stakeholders must work collectively to reduce the impact of disasters, strengthen preparedness, and protect those in need,” the President added.

Concluding his message, President Zardari prayed, “May Allah guide us in building a safer, stronger, and more resilient Pakistan. Ameen.”
