ISLAMABAD, Oct 15,
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) — Pakistan and AJK chapter — has strongly condemned the ongoing raids and arrests by Indian forces and intelligence agencies targeting Hurriyat leaders, pro-freedom activists, and civilians in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

In a statement, APHC Information Secretary Mushtaq Ahmad Butt said the continued crackdowns have created a climate of fear and insecurity across the valley, turning the region into a militarized garrison under constant surveillance and repression.

He said India’s claims of peace and normalcy were a facade to mislead the world, as the deployment of over one million troops proves that New Delhi views Kashmir not as a political issue but as a military campaign.

Mushtaq Butt added that these actions are designed to suppress the collective identity and resistance spirit of the Kashmiri people. Referring to India’s August 5, 2019 illegal measures, he said the move aimed to erase the Muslim identity of Kashmir and alter its demographic composition — in clear violation of UN resolutions and international law.

The APHC leader condemned India’s media gag, censorship, and harassment of journalists, calling it one of the worst crackdowns on free speech in modern times. “Today the media is silent, but the land of Kashmir cries out,” he said.

He appealed to the United Nations, OIC, European Union, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch to take immediate notice of these gross human rights violations and to compel India to stop its oppression, release political prisoners, and honor the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

Mushtaq Butt emphasized that lasting peace in South Asia is only possible when the Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with the UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
He concluded by saying, “Kashmiris have lit the flame of freedom with their blood — and they will never let it die.”
