Islamabad, Nov 5: The 1947 Jammu Genocide remains one of South Asia’s darkest and least acknowledged tragedies. In November 1947, thousands of innocent Muslims were systematically massacred by Dogra forces, Indian troops, and extremist militias, in what historians describe as a deliberate attempt to erase Jammu’s Muslim identity and alter the region’s demography forever.

This was not a moment of chaos, but a calculated act of ethnic cleansing. Once home to a 61% Muslim majority, Jammu’s Muslim population was reduced to just 33%. The blood of those martyrs, however, marked the beginning of Kashmir’s resistance — a struggle written in grief, courage, and unbreakable faith.

Each year, November 6 — Jammu Martyrs’ Day — serves not only as a day of remembrance but as a symbol of defiance and unity. It reminds the world that the spirit of 1947 still lives in the heart of every Kashmiri, standing against oppression and injustice.

Even today, the wounds of the Jammu genocide remain unhealed, as Hindutva’s colonial agenda continues to target the Muslim identity in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, deepening the scars of history.
