Badin, 11 November 2025 (Independent Report): The Badin district administration has intensified its efforts to eliminate forced labor and protect laborers’ rights, urging citizens to report violations promptly.

A high-level meeting was convened in the committee room on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Badin and Chairman of the District Vigilance Committee, Yasir Bhatti. During the session, Bhatti directed the establishment of complaint cells at the tehsil level and ordered the compilation of detailed data on laborers across the district.

The move aims to reinforce the Sindh Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 2015, and ensure justice for all affected individuals. Assistant Commissioners were instructed to hold local meetings in their talukas to form committees dedicated to protecting laborers’ rights and eliminating forced employment practices.

He added that the labor inspection system is being strengthened to enforce regulations on wages, working hours, and workplace safety.

To make reporting more accessible, the Labour Department is developing an online platform, allowing citizens to file complaints through a dedicated mobile app or website. Looking ahead, Bhatti announced plans to expand the Vigilance Committee’s membership to include representatives from the human rights and environmental sectors.

The meeting concluded with a public appeal urging residents to report any cases of bonded or forced labor to the local administration for immediate action. Additional officials present included Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Kashif Raza Mangi and Additional Director Social Welfare Abdul Ghaffar Khoso.
