Quetta, Dec. 10 — Lower-rank personnel of Balochistan Levies have raised serious concerns over alleged discriminatory treatment following the recent merger of Levies officers into the provincial police. According to Levies staff, while senior officers such as Risaldar Majors and Majors are being granted promotions and additional benefits under the Ministry of Interior’s latest notification, there is no similar plan for lower-ranked personnel, including sepoys and Havildars.

Levies officials described the situation as “extremely unfair and demoralizing,” noting that there is no clear mechanism for promotions or benefits for the lower ranks. Under the current arrangement, Risaldar Majors of Grade 16 have been promoted to Grade 17, while Grade 14 Majors have moved to Grade 16. Meanwhile, lower-rank employees continue to face long duty hours of up to 12 hours without adequate rest, rations, or allowances, leaving them without any tangible benefits despite the merger.

The personnel are demanding that sepoys of Grade 7 be promoted to Grade 9, and Grade 9 staff elevated to Grade 12, to prevent feelings of discrimination and inequity. They emphasized that any system providing preferential treatment to senior officers while ignoring lower-ranked employees will not be tolerated, calling for a uniform approach to ensure fairness across all grades.
