Quetta, Dec 15:
Director General Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) Major General Abdul Moeed, HI(M), has launched a proactive counter-narcotics strategy in Balochistan ahead of the Annual Poppy Eradication Campaign 2025–26, emphasizing early intervention and coordinated enforcement.

During a visit to remote western districts of the province—identified as vulnerable to illegal crop cultivation—the DG ANF chaired a high-level meeting attended by senior representatives of federal and provincial departments. The meeting decided that illicit crops would be eradicated at the germination stage, preventing the need for later large-scale destruction.

Provincial-level joint task forces have been formed to ensure accurate and timely identification of high-risk areas. Authorities will deploy satellite imagery, agricultural drones, tractors, and weedicide sprays, alongside an integrated monitoring and checking system.

Large-scale public awareness campaigns will be conducted through media and state institutions, while regular jirgas with local elders will be held to highlight the harmful effects of illegal crops.

The visit underscores the Government of Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate narcotics cultivation through preventive, technology-driven, and coordinated action.
