The WAPDA Association for Welfare of Engineers (WAWE) condemns in the strongest possible terms the reprehensible, unlawful, and disgraceful behavior of certain protestors directed against Engr. Dr. Nazakat Hussain, GM/PD Diamer Basha Dam Project (DBDP), and other engineers and officers performing their official duties at the project site.
WAWE considers this conduct a blatant attack on the dignity, safety, and professional integrity of engineers and officers who are serving the nation under extremely challenging conditions. Any form of intimidation, harassment, verbal abuse, coercion, or obstruction of official work is wholly unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Such acts not only endanger individual officers but also directly threaten the timely execution of a strategically vital national project of immense importance for Pakistan’s water security, energy generation, and economic stability.
Engr. Dr. Nazakat Hussain and his team have been carrying out their responsibilities with professionalism, dedication, and commitment to national interest. Targeting officers discharging state duties is an act of irresponsibility and lawlessness that undermines institutional authority and sets a dangerous precedent. WAWE categorically rejects all attempts to pressure, humiliate, or obstruct WAPDA officers through agitation or mob tactics.
WAWE demands that the concerned authorities take immediate and decisive action against those involved in these unacceptable acts, ensure complete security for all engineers and officers at the Diamer Basha Dam Project, and guarantee an environment where professionals can perform their duties without fear, threat, or interference.
WAWE stands in complete solidarity with Engr. Dr. Nazakat Hussain, GM/PD DBDP, and all engineers and officers working at the project. We reaffirm our unwavering support for WAPDA professionals and warn that any further harassment or intimidation of engineers will be met with a firm, united, and resolute response from the engineering fraternity across the country.
WAWE urges all stakeholders to adopt lawful, constructive, and responsible means for raising concerns. National development projects cannot and must not be held hostage to disorder, coercion, or confrontation.##
