Independent Report – Pishin, December 21, 2025
The Takto Mountains in Pishin are facing critical water shortages due to prolonged drought, endangering the rare Markhor and other wildlife. Natural springs have dried, and seasonal streams have vanished, leaving animals vulnerable. Forest Guard Nasir Ahmad Bazai has provided limited relief by supplying water to the wildlife, but experts warn that these measures are temporary. Conservationists urge the government to implement permanent solutions, including constructing water reservoirs, artificial ponds, and solar-powered water pumps to sustain wildlife populations. Dedicated funds and local community participation are recommended to ensure the survival of endangered species and preserve the ecological and cultural significance of Takto Mountains. Authorities emphasize that without long-term planning, these mountains risk losing their unique biodiversity.
