Nasirabad: A major security threat was narrowly averted when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated on the railway track near Notal in the Altafabad area, causing significant damage but leaving no passengers injured. The Jaffar Express from Peshawar to Quetta was stopped at Dera Murad Jamali Station as a precaution.
Police reported that the IED weighed approximately 4–5 kilograms, blowing away about three feet of the track. Another 10-kilogram explosive was safely defused by joint forces, including police, CTD, and the Special Branch. A comprehensive search operation is underway, and investigations into the incident are ongoing. Authorities have also alerted relevant officials to ensure timely track repairs and the resumption of safe train operations.
The successful prevention of a major railway attack highlights the effectiveness of proactive security measures and rapid response by law enforcement agencies in Nasirabad.
