Independent Report
Zhob | Jan 11, 2026:
Public and social circles in Zhob have demanded the immediate transfer of DCM WAPDA Shabbir Tareen, accusing him of adopting policies harmful to the public.
In a joint statement, residents alleged that the officer has initiated action against 104 electricity transformers, declaring them illegal despite their approval by previous governments and their registration in official WAPDA records. They termed the move unconstitutional, unlawful, and driven by ulterior motives.
According to the statement, the transformers are installed in areas including Kakar Town, Radio Station locality, Sheikh Abadi, Apozi Town, New Abadi, and various wards of Zhob city, benefiting thousands of consumers. Residents claimed that transformers have already been shut down on the officer’s orders, leaving entire neighborhoods without electricity.
The protesters warned that removal of even a single transformer would trigger strong public protests and road blockades. They held WAPDA authorities responsible for any unrest and urged the Chief Executive QESCO, Chief Minister Balochistan, and senior officials to intervene immediately.
