Madrid, Jan 19 — A tragic train accident in southern Spain has claimed the lives of at least 21 people and left dozens injured after two high-speed trains derailed and collided near Adamuz in Córdoba province on Sunday evening, authorities said. �

The crash occurred around 7:40 p.m. local time when a high-speed train traveling from Málaga to Madrid derailed and crossed onto the opposite track, smashing into an oncoming train headed from Madrid to Huelva, Spain’s rail network operator Adif said. �

Police confirmed 21 fatalities, and state broadcaster Television Española reported around 75 people hospitalised, with 15 in serious condition. Some sources put the number of injured near 100, including dozens with serious wounds. �
