Islamabad: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, met with Governor Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Mehdi Shah, at BISP Headquarters today.
The meeting focused on the welfare of deserving women in Gilgit-Baltistan, their registration for inclusion in BISP, and identification, outreach, assistance, and rehabilitation of individuals and families affected by natural disasters. Other key programme matters were also discussed.
Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized that enrolling deserving women from remote areas is a top priority. Mobile Registration Vans will be deployed more effectively in hard-to-reach locations to maximize registration. She also highlighted the Benazir Hunarmand Programme, which provides women with skills to enhance economic empowerment and employment opportunities.
The Chairperson assured full cooperation for the resolution of provincial issues and stated that all BISP programmes are designed to deliver services transparently and efficiently. Governor Syed Mehdi Shah lauded BISP’s initiatives and confirmed that the Gilgit-Baltistan government will provide full support for the effective implementation of these programmes.
