1. The initiative is supported by multiple significant countries including number of Muslim countries. Turkey, UAE and many others have already done it while others following up.
2. Resolution of Gaza crisis as per the UNSC Resolutions.
3. Permanent ceasefire in Gaza ultimately leading to its reconstruction.
4. Achievement of ultimate peace in Gaza leading to protection of rights of Palestinian people, their state-hood and right to self determination.
5. Ensuring overall security and stability in the region.
Historic and Necessary
1. A pragmatic step for political solution of ongoing genocide in Gaza with participation of significant nations including multiple Muslim countries working collectively to safeguard Palestinian interests.
2. Recognition of Pakistan heft and importance in global comity.
3. In line with Pakistan participation in multiple multilateral forums and engagements in an increasingly polarised, militarised and fragmented world.
4. Pakistan is perhaps the one or amongst few countries having no dispute with any global / leading power USA, china and russia rather strategic to friendly relations with all therefore has the unique capacity to act as a bridge for peace in a world order experiencing uncertainty and flux.
Why it is highly sensible for Pakistan to form part of Board of Peace (BoP)?
1. Pakistan does not belong to bloc politics. It engages with all, and preserves strategic autonomy rejecting rigid “either-or” alignments in favor of balance and maneuverability.
2. Pakistan’s foreign policy has always promoted key national interests without compromise whether it was China, India, Kashmir or Palestine; Pakistan has never wavered from its Principled stances. On India, despite geopolitical circumstances in the past where India seemingly enjoyed US providence with pressure on Pakistan, Pakistan stood strong and unbending. Pakistan’s position on Gaza and Kashmir remains fixed and lawful; no recognition of Israel, no policy reversal; rooted in UN resolutions, respect for internationally recognized boundaries, and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital of a free, independent Palestinian state and on Kashmir; recognition as a disputed territory whose final status to be decided through a fair and impartial plebiscite in line with relevant UNSC Resolutions.
3. As geopolitical fault lines harden, neutrality becomes indistinguishable from irrelevance. For the world’s most significant military power of Muslim World, abstention is not prudence – it is strategic forfeiture.
4. Pakistan’s credibility is not theoretical. Its growing heft and sustained contributions to UN peacekeeping missions earning trust through action rather than rhetoric.
5. Portraying Pakistan as a bystander serves only those invested in paralysis. In a world where power tables are being redrawn daily, Pakistan’s presence is not optional—it is a strategic necessity.
ISF vs Board of Peace
1. Pakistan has already very clear stance on its engagement in ISF which has been repeatedly emphasized at various tiers by GoP. Any engagement in ISF will be in accordance with our national interest, UN mandate and as per the aspirations of people of Pakistan and Palestine.
2. Equating Board of Peace with participation in ISF is therefore illogical and out of place.
