Karachi: Senior Sindh Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, announced that Sindh government has launched Pakistan’s first electric buses, with a focus on Karachi. Highlighting the vision of Pakistan Peoples Party leadership, he stated that the initiative will expand beyond electric buses to include EV scooters and upcoming EV taxis. Speaking in the Sindh Assembly, Memon emphasized the financial and environmental benefits, including reduced fuel consumption and lower generator costs in public offices. He noted that deploying 5,000 buses will take time due to high costs and infrastructure requirements. Addressing recent transport strikes, Memon said disruptions were resolved after dialogue with federal authorities, ensuring smoother operations and prioritizing public convenience
