Peshawar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Soheil Afridi led a major street movement rally from Peshawar towards Mardan, passing through Jhangra and Nowshera. The rally received an enthusiastic welcome at multiple locations including Tarujba (Nowshera) and Khatkalay, where party workers gathered in large numbers.
Provincial President Junaid Akbar, Shahid Khattak and other senior leaders accompanied the Chief Minister.
Addressing participants at Tarujba, CM Afridi said the movement was a peaceful protest against fascism, adding that party workers remained disciplined and law-abiding. He stressed that the Constitution guarantees the right to peaceful protest and that this right would be exercised fully.
He announced that the street movement would be intensified till February 8, after which the next phase of action would be announced. The Chief Minister strongly condemned the solitary confinement of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi and termed restrictions on family meetings as alarming.
The rally later entered Mardan district, where a massive public reception was held.
