Lahore, January 24:
Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari has announced strict enforcement of safety standard operating procedures during the Basant Festival scheduled to be held in Lahore from February 6 to 8.
She said the provincial government is committed to reviving Punjab’s cultural traditions while ensuring complete protection of citizens’ lives and property. The festival, she added, reflects the historic identity and cultural spirit of the province.
Azma Bokhari stated that all relevant departments have been directed to ensure a safe, controlled and responsible environment for celebrations. The concept of “Safe Basant” is being implemented to prevent untoward incidents.
She said the initiative is being carried out under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and in line with the vision of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, emphasizing that public safety remains the government’s top priority.
