Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced comprehensive traffic management reforms aimed at improving mobility and reducing congestion in Quetta city. Addressing the second meeting of the Balochistan Traffic Engineering Bureau Board, the chief minister said the provincial government was committed to introducing a modern, scientific, and technology-driven traffic system to enhance citizens’ quality of life. Officials briefed the meeting on the proposed traffic master plan, which includes installation of coordinated traffic signals at major intersections, improved monitoring mechanisms, and conversion of selected roads into one-way corridors. The chief minister directed that Phase-I of the project be completed by May 2026, while Phase-II should be finalized without delay. He emphasized transparency, merit-based recruitment on contract, and adoption of artificial intelligence-based digital systems for effective traffic control. The reforms, he said, would significantly reduce travel time, improve road safety, and bring long-term benefits for commuters and businesses in the provincial capital. End
