ISLAMABAD:
Senior lawyer and PTI leader Latif Khosa, while speaking to the media at Parliament House, said that former prime minister Imran Khan had been kept in prolonged solitary confinement, which, according to him, was against domestic laws, constitutional guarantees, and international standards.

Latif Khosa stated that proceedings in the £190 million or Al-Qadir Trust case involving Imran Khan and his wife were underway, but stressed that accused persons must be provided legal and human rights protections in accordance with the law. He claimed that Imran Khan had been kept in isolation for an extended period, while issues relating to meetings and legal access had also remained a matter of concern.

He maintained that neither Pakistani law nor the Constitution permitted unnecessary solitary confinement, adding that international prisoner regulations also emphasized the protection of prisoners’ basic rights. He said Pakistan, as a signatory to international frameworks, should ensure compliance with accepted legal and humanitarian standards.

Expressing concern over Imran Khan’s health and jail conditions, Khosa said he should be treated in line with legal requirements and humanitarian principles. He added that political differences should not override basic legal and human rights considerations.

The PTI leader further remarked that Imran Khan remained a significant political figure in the country and that his supporters and party workers continued to closely follow developments related to him. He emphasized that political disputes should be resolved through constitutional, democratic, and political mechanisms.

Commenting on recent allegations and political claims, Latif Khosa called for transparent, impartial, and lawful investigations into contentious matters so that facts could be established. He stressed that resolving political disputes through institutional and constitutional means was in the broader national interest.
