QUETTA (July 18): Balochistan Senior Provincial Minister and Provincial Minister for Irrigation Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani has described the successful negotiations between the provincial government’s delegation and the Ziarat Tragedy Committee as a significant achievement for dialogue, democratic values and peaceful conflict resolution.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Umrani paid rich tribute to the police officers and personnel who embraced martyrdom in the Ziarat tragedy, saying their sacrifices in the line of duty would always be honored. He reaffirmed that safeguarding the lives and property of citizens remained the foremost responsibility of the provincial government.
The senior minister expressed confidence that Operation Shaban, currently being carried out by security forces against terrorist elements, would help restore durable peace and stability in the affected regions. He said the operation was expected to play a key role in eliminating the menace of terrorism and creating a secure environment conducive to development and public welfare.
Highlighting the importance of negotiations, Umrani said the successful settlement of the Ziarat issue had once again demonstrated that dialogue and democratic engagement offered the most effective and sustainable approach to resolving political and public disputes.
He observed that the constructive interaction between the government’s negotiating team and the protest committee reflected political maturity and a shared commitment to finding peaceful solutions. Such efforts, he added, would strengthen the culture of consultation, reconciliation and consensus, while reinforcing initiatives aimed at ensuring lasting peace across Balochistan.
Concluding his statement, Umrani prayed for the departed souls of the Ziarat martyrs, asking Allah Almighty to grant them the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and bestow patience, courage and strength upon their bereaved families.
