Under the China Aid – For Shared Future initiative, the Ghaus Bahar Public Library in Ormara, Gwadar has received a complete solar power system to ensure sustainable and uninterrupted energy for the coastal region’s prime educational facility.

The system — including solar panels, inverter, batteries, and wiring components — was formally handed over to Ormara Tehsildar Noor Khan by Deputy Commissioner Gwadar Hamood-ur-Rehman, as reported by Gwadar Pro. Installation work is set to begin shortly.

Located along the Makran Coast between Gwadar and Karachi, the Ghaus Bahar Library serves as a vital learning center for local students and teachers. The solar upgrade will enhance study conditions, extend library hours, and support both male and female learners.

Once abandoned, the library has been revived through a joint effort of the local administration and volunteers. The Gwadar district administration, in coordination with the provincial government, continues to promote literacy by constructing and renovating schools and libraries. Recently, the Gunz Mubarak Qazi Library near Jiwani was inaugurated by MPA Maulana Hidayatur Rehman Baloch, while the Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi Digital Library in Gwadar stands as one of Pakistan’s leading digital knowledge centers.

Meanwhile, the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) has completed power transmission infrastructure to supply 2 megawatts (MW) of electricity to the Pak-China Friendship Hospital (PCFH) in Gwadar.

The dedicated feeder line from the main grid station will ensure uninterrupted electricity to the hospital, enabling full operation of its medical departments and advanced health apparatus.

According to hospital officials, the absence of regular electricity had forced reliance on diesel generators costing up to Rs2 million per month, with several heavy medical machines remaining nonfunctional.

Since its inauguration in June 2024, the Pak-China Friendship Hospital has provided free medical care to over 212,000 patients, including women and children, across Gwadar and adjoining areas of Balochistan — marking it as a cornerstone of the region’s healthcare infrastructure under China-Pakistan cooperation.
