Rawalpindi, November 13, 2025 — The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has categorically dismissed circulating claims regarding the alleged creation of new posts such as Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) or Deputy Chief of Army Staff (DCOAS), terming the reports as “fake and misleading.”

According to ISPR, no such provisions exist in the Pakistan Army Act, including in the recently discussed amendments. It emphasized that Article 176(c) was originally inserted in 1978, and no new clauses or positions have been introduced through the current legislative update.

The clarification further stated that the ongoing amendment merely aligns the law with the appointment of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) who concurrently serves as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CDF), ensuring legal consistency within the structure of military appointments.

ISPR urged the public and media outlets to avoid speculation and rely solely on official sources for information concerning military affairs.
