Quetta, Dec. 9 — On the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, Director General Anti-Corruption Balochistan, Nasibullah Kakar, delivered a strong message emphasizing the urgent need to eradicate corruption at all levels to ensure sustainable economic and social development. He described corruption as a pervasive scourge that disrupts governance, undermines public trust, and negatively impacts every facet of daily life.
Kakar stressed that eliminating corruption is a fundamental requirement for any nation seeking progress and for citizens to access their legitimate rights. Highlighting Pakistan’s commitment as a signatory to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, he reiterated that the National Accountability Bureau remains firmly dedicated to combating financial misconduct and promoting transparency nationwide.
He underscored the importance of addressing the root causes of corruption through coordinated efforts involving government institutions, civil society, and individuals, noting that its consequences extend beyond individuals to families and communities. International Anti-Corruption Day, Kakar added, provides an opportunity to renew collective resolve, strengthen institutional accountability, and reinforce public confidence in governance systems.
He concluded by calling for a sustained and conscious effort to promote self-accountability, transparency, and rule of law, emphasizing that consistent anti-corruption measures will lay the foundation for a prosperous, just, and corruption-free Pakistan.
