Quetta, December 30, 2025
Balochistan has recorded a sharp increase in heart disease cases during 2025, surpassing figures from previous years, health officials confirmed. Data shows a steady rise over the past three years, with the current year witnessing a record number of cardiac patients.
At the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Institute of Cardiology in Quetta, more than 400 heart surgeries were performed over the last 11 months. Hospital administration reported that nearly 80,000 patients sought treatment at the institute since January 2025.
Officials added that many patients also visited other public and private hospitals, including facilities outside the province. A notable number of children were also among those receiving cardiac treatment.
Medical experts attributed the rise to poor hygiene, unhealthy lifestyles, lack of preventive care, and increasing stress levels.
