Quetta, Jan 28: Advisor to the Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs, Meena Majeed Baloch, highlighted the province’s youth as a vital asset, announcing initiatives aimed at equipping them with professional skills and expanding employment opportunities both domestically and overseas. Under this program, more than 30,000 young people are expected to benefit from international job placements.
The announcement came during the inauguration of a three-day policy dialogue on “Countering Violent Extremism,” organized by the Balochistan Home Department. The event saw participation from senior officials, including DIG CTD Aitezaz Ahmed Goraya; Chief Coordination Officer CVE Dr. Dost Muhammad Bareech; Dr. Ismatullah; Israr Ahmed Madani; Iftikhar Firdous; Fahad Nabeel; and other key stakeholders.
Speaking at the ceremony, Meena Majeed Baloch emphasized that under Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the government is implementing a comprehensive youth policy designed to promote social and economic empowerment. Initiatives such as the Youth Socio-Economic Development Program aim to raise awareness among young people against misinformation and baseless propaganda.
As part of the program, Youth Resource Centers have been established to provide career counseling, while digital training sessions and provision of laptops enable youth to pursue online work from home. The government is also promoting extracurricular engagement through organized football and cricket tournaments, and previously closed schools—“ghost schools”—have been revived to ensure access to education for all children.
DIG CTD Aitezaz Ahmed Goraya and other speakers praised the government’s proactive approach to countering violent extremism through dialogue and youth-focused initiatives, stressing the importance of continuing such programs to safeguard and empower Balochistan’s younger generation.
